Smoked BBQ Dishes from Around the World!

Hooray, summer is here! It is that time of the year when many of us enjoy the warm weather, bask in the sun, spend time with friends and family whilst enjoying the best that outdoor barbecues and food smokers have to offer. While grilling has been the norm for decades, smoking of food has been making a steady comeback in kitchens around the globe.

From the onset, smoking may seem like a simple and primitive technique but that’s far from the truth. Whilst it is true that smoking of food is traditional, misunderstood and underappreciated, food experts will instantly tell you that very few dishes can reach the level of smoked BBQ dishes in terms of the overall sumptuousness and flavor that it brings to your gastronomic endeavors. To confirm this, here are some of the best-smoked dishes from around the world that will leave you wanting more.

1. Polish Smoked Sausages

Parties in Poland are often all-night affairs. They’re mainly vodka-fueled, which calls for the need for dependable dishes such as the kielbasa: the Polish sausage. While there are different types of kielbasa, the most common one is the Zwyczajna.

This is basically a smoked kielbsa and has light color with mild smoky flavor. This is one of the country’s most popular dishes and is a must-have for scouts and campers as it becomes even more sumptuous when smoked over a campfire and devoured during a cold night.

2. Chinese Smoked Duck

Celebrated around the globe, Chinese smoked duck is said to be 400 years old! This is a traditional Chinese dish that uses a special breed of duck that has tremendously tender meat. Even though there are various modern recipes that are currently used in cooking the Chinese smoked duck, many recipes still pay homage to the traditional Chinese way of smoking a duck. Preparations begin 48 hours in advance and the use of traditional Chinese ingredients takes it to a whole new level. It may not look great, at least in a picture, but it is undoubtedly one of the best-smoked BBQ dishes you’ll ever taste.

3. Texas Style Smoked Brisket

As the national dish of the Republic of Texas, nothing proves that you’re in Texas like a mouthwatering smoked brisket.

Texas is a beef state and the juicy taste of smoky meat proves beyond doubt that Texans know how to prepare the type of smoked brisket that would offer you a great excuse to attend a BBQ party. Preparing a smoked brisket, the Texas way requires technique and mastery. Without that, you are doomed to fail from the onset.

4. Argentinian Smoked Asado

Tell any of your Argentinian friends that Asado is the same as BBQ and they’ll instantly brush you off for disrespecting the country’s purest cooking form. This is basically a very popular Argentinian art of smoking meat to give it a sumptuous smoky taste that’s not too overpowering. The Asado is a clear proof that Argentinians takes meat smoking seriously and strongly believe that it is not just about the food, but rather a ritual and ceremony that must always be done in a remarkable way.

5. Norwegian Smoked Salmon

You might have come across various types of smoked salmon dishes, but the Norwegian smoked salmon is far different from what you’re used to.

Based on the traditional Norwegian family recipe, the Norwegian smoked salmon is not just an excellent source of Omega-3 but also has a unique sumptuous taste that can only be traced back to the Norwegian fjords and the glaciers that surround it.

Smoked dishes are steadily making a comeback in kitchens around the world. As one of the most sumptuous dishes, there are various unique smoked dishes that originate from various parts of the world.
