Tips for Planning a Trip to Kansas City

July 31, 2019 by Keith Alderson

Kansas City, Missouri is a very popular vacation destination, with a wide variety of activities and attractions that the whole family can enjoy at any time of year. With more water fountains than Rome, visitors can view these and other beautiful sights as they stroll through the city, going from one fun thing to do after another. And with many things to see and do in Kansas City, people planning on visiting may well want to plan an itinerary before coming within city limits.

When planning a KC trip, the first step is to secure safe and clean hotel accommodations. One thing many visitors are pleased to see is the significant number of clean and affordable hotels in Kansas City. While seeing a pest control van in the parking lot might seem like a bad thing, this suggests they’re on the ball about preventing problems before they start. So if you spot Joshuas’ Pest Control – Kansas City hotels are taking proper steps to remain bed bug-free for their guests. If you intend to travel with pets, make sure you do a little reading on improving your long distance travel with a cat or a dog.

One really worth looking into is the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kansas City South hotel. This pet-friendly hotel is conveniently located off of I-435, quickly accessible to downtown, the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex, and Bartle Hall Convention Center.

When thinking about dining while in the city, diners can have a great variety of options in all sorts of cuisine. Within a leisurely walk downtown, diners can go from cheap eats to fine dining and everything in between. But one thing that absolutely must be taken in while here is barbecue, a cuisine Kansas City is world-famous for.

Thinking about activities to do there, but aren’t sure where to begin? Consider taking a sight-seeing tour. Get to know the city on this open-air double-decker bus as the tour guide gives you the lowdown on current and historical information. You can view historic and nationally recognized entertainment and shopping districts and famous attractions the way on this pleasant 1.5-hour ride. You could very well see things you’d like to explore later after the tour ends.

If you may be in a sporting mood while there- viewing, that is- take in a professional sporting event. Based on when you go, you can go see the Royals at Kauffman Stadium or the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City sports fans are wild about their teams, so prepare to have a festive time at either game. Soak up some of the local atmosphere and tailgate with the fans and really enjoy the whole experience.

If you might like to take in some culture while in KC, definitely put the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art high on your to-do list. Known as the cultural jewel of KC, it is widely recognized as one of America’s finest art museums. Home to 40,000 works of art, it is best known for its Bloch Galleries, which feature Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, photography, and a variety of other art pieces in a number of other galleries. One reviewer put this museum on par with the Smithsonian. Another was overjoyed, as they spent the morning with Rembrandt, Monet, Rubens, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Camille Pissarro.

And another tremendous plus to a visit here- admission is free!
